Mr. Cantrell began his career in public accounting with Ernst & Ernst. During his audit experience, he was senior in charge of audits for various manufacturing companies, such as, Frontier Manufacturing Companies, Spectradyne, Inc., Gifford Hill and Gifford Hill American, Scientific Communications, Inc. and E-Systems, Inc. These relationships continued throughout his career at Ernst & Ernst with certain relationships continuing after the formation of Cantrell & Associates. After two years of auditing experience, he was promoted to the tax section of the firm. He became a tax executive within the Dallas office of Ernst & Ernst. During his employment with Ernst & Ernst, he became a regional coordinator of oil and gas and real estate taxation in addition to a national conference leader and lecturer in the area of corporate formation, liquidation and reorganiza­tion.

After Ernst & Ernst, he formed the local certified public account­ing firm Cantrell & Associates. His involvement has developed this local firm to the forefront of U.S and international taxation and business consulting in the Dallas marketplace as well as the real estate taxation industry.  This includes locally and within the boundaries of the state taxation of the real estate industry

Rhea Shay joined Cantrell & Associates in October 2018 bringing her passion, desire and willingness to settle for nothing less than excellence.

She has played an integral role in the customer service and organizational strength of our company.  As an Administrator, she planned and coordinated a total reorganization of our office functionally as well as cosmetically.   In the short span of one year she seamlessly transformed Cantrell & Associates internally by starting with the filing system. She moved the firm from a paper filing system to a total paperless platform in three months time.  In the following months she demolished and remodeled the floor space of 25 years into a new open concept environment. She currently oversees the office day to day operations and coordinating the business office and staff needs.

Tax Accounting Associate – October 2016 to Present

  SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE

Yana joined Cantrell & Associates as an intern in January 2016 and became a full-time Tax Associate in October 2016. Her current responsibilities include the preparation and review of corporate, partnership and individual income tax returns, as well as state income and franchise tax returns. She also helps clients with their various accounting needs such as reconciling accounting files necessary for tax compliance, bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, payroll processing and preparation of internal and external financial statements.

Yana earned her Bachelor of Business Administration with Honors from the American University of Bulgaria.

She completed her Master of Science in Accounting at UT Dallas where she was the recipient of the Dean’s Excellence scholarship and the Student Impact Graduate scholarship.
